With oil at $140 a barrel consider Holidays by Rail

As the oil price reached $140 a barrel yesterday, I found myself wondering why it is being allowed to creep up and up, potentially to $170 in the coming months. Yes, we've heard about the issues of supply, threat of war etc, but surely it is all just an excuse to charge us all more at the pumps? So what can YOU do?
Firstly, try and reduce fuel consumption. If everyone used less fuel then the demand would decrease and in theory so would the price.
Secondly look for other means of transport that rely less on fuel, such as rail travel.
Rail is the greener solution in many ways and whilst not always cheap in the UK, it represents excellent value for money when you get into continental Europe. Travel by train to Europe is such a civilised way to get around, allowing you to actually experience the pleasure of the journey rather than the stress of air travel.
So next time you hear about the doom and gloom of oil prices, think of Holidays by Rail!
